It’s All About The Bike
By Brenda Lee Mitchell

My husband and I were discussing what we could do to keep us active without being boring. I had been the type of person to walk everywhere until life was too busy to do so. Then when life sped up I took up running. I would run four or five mornings a week and loved the feeling of pounding the pavement. Eventually I met my current husband who did not run. I found it harder and harder to get myself up at five each morning to run when he was at home. Eventually I gave up running and the weight crept on.

When the honeymoon period settled down we decided to go to gym together. After less than a year I was bored beyond belief and looking for reasons not to go. I needed to get outside. While I loved the idea of my husband running with me, I knew it would not happen. I went on some small runs with a girl who I met online but struggled to get myself fit enough again. My body was just not up for it after such a big break. I had to admit that I didn’t have the drive to get myself going again.

I tried yoga, even completing my teaching course. I taught for a year and now only practice for myself. I tried boxing, water running, water aerobics, body combat and personal training. Nothing was enough to keep me interested.

I was chatting to a friend one day saying I was bored with everything and I wanted to get outside. Knowing I could not run anymore she introduced me to her neighbour who had the cycling bug. It didn’t take me long to also feel the pull to the saddle.

I started looking at bike shops, websites and social media sites and within a few weeks I had found my dream bike and was fitted to ensure that I could ride in comfort. Add on different pedals, your gear including the padded shorts, jerseys and you are on your way. My new obsession is the ride.

There are so many great apps that you can download now. You can monitor everything from your smart phone to motivate the distance and speed to increase. The only competition is myself. I now sit in traffic and watch the cyclists going past and wish I was with them. I study online and read magazines looking for my first group ride to join. I have a goal to be ready to ride with a group by Christmas and I honestly can’t think about much else. To me it is all about the bike.

Steel made frame is weighty that makes the bike weighty, though durable. To know more about the best suitable components within this range you can visit on different authentic review providing sites. But, keep it in mind closely that components are very sensible option of deciding how to choose perfect road bike.

Wheels

You won’t find a captivating carbon set of wheels at under this value below $1000. Nonetheless, you will get a set of branded wheels from any similarity of the top brands or generally respectable sets that bear the same brand name as the bike.

Right Size and Fitting

It’s critical to get a bike that fits you appropriately. But it’s really important to get a properly fit road bike with your body to avoid injury and get full comfort. You can’t ignore this issue while considering the issues related to “how to choose perfect road bike on your budget”. You must be very sensitive to find out this. The limit of 1000 dollars is not a barrier in this regard.

Brand Checking

Some of the bikes in the market have no brand. It’s unquestionably a matter of danger. Various less prominent brands are just rebadged choices of more well-recognized bikes. A surely understood brand is an essential marker of value control.

Final Words

Usually choosing a road bike is simple. But, choosing the perfect one is always complicated. If you have a budget like $1000, then it’s more complicated as there are a lot of choices in that price range. Tips for Riding a Bicycle on a Busy Road

Tips for Riding a Bicycle on a Busy Road

Tips for Riding a Bicycle on a Busy Road
By Joan Bishop Denizot

Riding a bicycle either as a sport, recreational exercise or as a means of transportation is becoming popular these days. More often, cyclists choose roads with less traffic. However, when it cannot be avoided, some bicycle riders have to go through busy streets and bike their way through traffic.

When riding a bicycle through a busy street, no matter how covered and protected you are with your helmet and safety gears, if you don’t follow traffic rules and road discipline, you might be putting yourself at risk with danger.

Accidents do happen anytime and anywhere but there are things that you can do to avoid encountering one when you ride your bicycle on a busy street.

A bicycle, once it hits the road, it is treated like any vehicle on the road. Therefore, when you ride your bicycle on a busy street, it is advisable to follow traffic rules such as stopping on a red light, know when to yield, avoid overtaking on the shoulders, and follow bike lanes or bike paths if there any.

When on the road, you might want to remember to always keep your hands on the handle bars and a finger or two over the brake levers so you can be prepared to hit the brakes when needed.

More experienced bicycle riders advice beginner riders on the road to be heard and be seen. You may want to use a horn or bell so pedestrians can hear you or other motorists can be alerted of your presence. Have your bike installed with reflectors as well as with head lights and tail lights. You may also want to remember to avoid a driver’s blind spot so cars and trucks ahead can know of your presence.

You can also avoid accidents if you ride in a predictable manner so that cars can go around you without bumping into you. Using hand signals will also alert motorists of your movements and can spare you from road mishaps.

Just like any motorist on the road, it is wise to observe road courtesy. You may want to smile when you make that turn or wave as a signal of thanks when you are given the right of way.

Good riding habits are also important to remember. Just like driving cars, it is not wise to ride a bicycle when you are intoxicated as this may affect your reflexes and may result to poor judgment on the road. Another road hazard to avoid is texting while cycling.

Finally, it is wise to plan your route and stay alert when riding on a busy street.

Kids first bikes

Must Checks Before Buying A Balance Bike

Must Checks Before Buying A Balance Bike
By Satvik Mittal

Balance bikes are much better options over training wheels and tricycles. Children who start off with balance bikes have an easier time learning because they focus more on balance than they do pedaling and this gives you a good start that will not require a transition later as it would otherwise be the case with other bikes. The bikes simply skip the training wheels making it possible for the young ones to go straight to standard bike riding. But for your child to enjoy the best riding experience, you must get it right with your balance bike selection. There are key areas that you should check out before making your purchase to get the best one for your child.

Bike weight

The weight of the balance bike should match your child’s weight otherwise it will be difficult for them to handle it properly. It should neither be too light or too heavy for the child; let age and build of your child guide you into making a safe selection

Bike frame

The balance bike frame materials can vary greatly and each comes with pros and cons. Some of the most popular materials for the balance bikes are steel and aluminum, but you can also find frames that are made from wood and composite materials. When out buying a bike for your child, take the time to check out material options considering the pros and cons of each as guide to the best. Apart from durability, think about how heavy the frame material makes the bike and care and maintenance requirements too.

Bike tires

Balance bikes come in varying tread patterns as per the tires. Think about riding environments and conditions your child will be riding on when making your selection because some are better for pavements whereas others are designed to offer increased tractions on natural surfaces and dirt surfaces. Tires that are functional for any given surface may be best so you do not end up limiting your child’s riding fun. The major options you have with the bike tires are solid rubber, air or pneumatic, EVA foam tires and honeycomb tires which are relatively new but gaining rapid popularity.

Seat height

The correct seat height cannot be ignored if at all kids are to remain comfortable during their rides. Always get a proper seat height or go for adjustable features that make it possible for you to make adjustments to suit your child even as they grow. Review the bike you are about to buy so you know of any adjustability features or add-on option to lower or extend seat height as appropriate for your child.

Handgrips

They should protect and keep the tiny hands comfortable. A handgrip that comes with protective rubber and cushioned end is always a better choice because of the ability to absorb impact and protect against pinching during a fall. If you are buying the balance bike for younger children, then a smaller radius grip is most suitable.

Other factors necessary to consider when buying a new bike for your kid include footrest, warranty and brakes. Choose the best from a reliable manufacturer and supplier to keep your child safe and happy as they learn.

Make Your Cycling Enjoyable

Some Experience Tips And Tricks Which Make Your Cycling EnjoyableSome Experience Tips And Tricks Which Make Your Cycling Enjoyable
By Edwin Hendrickson

Regardless of your age, cycling is one of the most enjoyable activities if done in the right way. Despite the gotten entertainment, a bike is known to be a great way of exercising and burning about 500 calories in an hour. The advancement is the manufacturing of new bike types has made the endeavor easier due to the included options that suit one’s needs. The difference in size and variety in the types of bikes ensures that all of us have a chance to enjoy cycling activity. In this article, I will provide you with some experience Tips which make your biking enjoyable.

Pick a Bike With the Right Seat

There are bikes with hard and narrows seats that are particularly unsuitable for cycling over long distances or in rugged areas. I have cycled using many bikes and the only sure way to have fun over long distance is if you are comfortable with the seat. It is, therefore, advisable to pick a soft and full seat bike. Springs under the seat are supposed to offer protection in case of a sudden bump. They should also be of high quality and in good condition at all times.

Dress for the Ride

Every gaming activity has its attire, and so does biking. When I need to cycle a lot, I use a pair of shorts that have less fabric which ensures there are petite chances for irritation. As a precaution, one should always have a helmet on them when biking. This makes the exercise entertaining because you are shielded from any head injury. The type of shoes chosen for biking also determines if the activity will be enjoyable. I always use a well-treaded shoe that locks perfectly with the pedal.

Change Cycling Positions

Doing the same thing over and over gets annoying. As with biking, you should change your hand and body positions. This change alters the angle at which the neck, back, and arms are bent thereby stressing different muscles. Consequently, the change in body position makes the cycling thrilling, and one can cycle for long.

Select the Right Size

If you need to purchase a new bike, you should go for the one that fits you. This test can be passed by riding the bike a few meters before you buy just to make sure it’s the right size for you. Biking gets interesting if you have the best ride with you. You can cycle for a long distance if you have the right size with you as opposed to under or oversize bike.

Obey Traffic Rules

When riding on a busy road or in populated areas, it’s important to observe every traffic law to avoid landing on the wrong. If every rule is obeyed, you can be assured of having fun.

Conclusion

It is without a doubt that bike riding is an enjoyable endeavor that anyone can enjoy. Every job is ultimately appreciated if the right equipment is used. Cycling exercise needs to be done perfectly and with the correct tools. I always pick the best bike and suitable attire to ensure the biking activity is to be fully entertaining.

Riding at Night

Cycling at Night

Cycling at Night

By Trevon Munroe

Riding at night can be very different from day time riding in many ways. There are adjustments you will need to make in order to ensure your safety and that you are following the rules of the road in the country where you are living. I have experienced this first hand a few years ago whilst I was biking home from classes. It was about 7pm in the evening and I was riding my mountain bike without any sort of lights, and as I was about to ride past a police station there was an officer on the road and he signaled me to stop. This was my first encounter with the law while using the road. The officer was lenient with me since I told him I was going home from classes and he suggested that I always ride with lights and that I should be careful where to ride at nights.

To prevent you from having to experience such a similar encounter (which could turn out worse) and for your safety, here are some basic tips for biking at night, whether you are just running some errands, leaving work or going home from classes:

Lights, lights, lights – Ensure your bike is equipped with a pair of lights. Keeping your cycle well lit will help other road users on the road to see you during the night and this will help to prevent accidents or collisions. In addition, your lights will help you to see obstacles along your path on the road ways (for example, potholes).

Reflectors – The bare minimum I recommend is having reflectors between your bicycle spokes on the wheel with front and rear reflectors (one on the handle bar and one below the seat pole). Like your lights, reflectors help other road users to see you coming. When a motor vehicle’s light hits your reflector, it reflects or lights up in a way that they cannot miss you, thus further ensuring your safety at night.

Clothing – Whilst riding at night, it is a good idea to not be wearing black clothes or dark colored clothing. Wear something bright, preferably white at all times as this will also help other road users to see you in the dark. This is a general rule that not only applies to cyclists but also is advised to pedestrians on the roadways at night.

Be alert and vigilant – The most important thing you can do, in my opinion, is to be vigilant and on the lookout whilst riding at night. Be on the lookout for pedestrians who may wander on the roadways and also for motor vehicles. I would further advise that you choose safe routes for biking after dark because you may be taking all the necessary precautions but there will always be reckless drivers on the road. Also, do not ride in places that are known to be dangerous at night or places that are too lonely. If possible, find a friend to go biking with at night.

That is my list of things you should do to prepare when riding at night. Follow these tips and have a much safer biking experience when riding at night.

Bike Racks

A Bike Wall Mount Is A Great Solution For Cyclists That Lack Space
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Andrew_Stratton]Andrew Stratton

Gas can cost a small fortune these days, so many people are purchasing new bicycles instead of cars. Not only do they cost so much less than owning a car, they help to keep you in shape and help reduce your carbon footprint all at the same time. But now that you purchased the model of your dreams, where do you plan to store it?

If you have a home with large yard, you have many options. You can purchase a locker or shed made especially for the job, or you can leave it outside chained up. But depending on your circumstances, these may not be options for you. You may want to consider the use of bike wall mount instead.

Apartment Dwellers

If you live in an apartment and have no outside storage at all, a bike wall mount should work well for you. If you choose to simply lean your bike against an apartment wall, it can be easily knocked over due to its protruding handlebars. Using the bike wall mount keeps it out of the way and prevents it from falling down and getting damaged.

These racks also come in many different styles and colors, so you are bound to find one that matches your home’s decor. Your hanging two-wheeler actually adds a quirky piece of artwork to your home, too.

Organize Your Garage

Maybe you own your own home with a garage, but your yard is too small for a shed or storage locker. Many people with kids choose to keep their bikes in the garage, however, if you use your garage for storage, it can get quite crowded. A hanging rack can be a great solution for saving space.

Simply look around the garage and find an open wall without any shelving for the best placement. Search for a low traffic area and place the rack at approximately waist height, just so the wheels no longer touch the ground.

You can also use the holder as a maintenance stand if it is strong enough. This will prevent you from straining your back the next time you need to perform routine repair work, such as replacing a broken chain.

Different Types

The bike wall mount comes in many variations. There is one where the whole unit is hung from the front wheel, and another that has long arms on which you balance the top tube of the frame, which is the most common. Another type is installed at ground level and it simply captures the front wheel.

All of these models have their advantages and disadvantages, so you should do some research prior to purchasing to determine which one best meets your needs.

Installation

Regardless of which stand you choose, each can be easily installed. All you need are a few screws or bolts, which usually come with the rack as a kit. Using a drill, you should have the rack up in no time flat. It is very important, however, to use a stud finder to ensure that the rack is hung securely. Otherwise, your two-wheeler could fall and destroy property or injure someone.

A bike wall mount is inexpensive and convenient. Installing one will give you the peace of mind just knowing that your property is safe and secure, and you won’t have to worry about it being in the midst of foot traffic.
